About Abdelslam

Abdelslam Taha is a Sudanese climate resilience and youth empowerment leader based in Egypt, with a background in medicine and over seven years of experience in environmental advocacy, capacity building, and nonprofit leadership. He is the Founder and CEO of YouthClimate Connect (YCC), a U.S.-registered nonprofit organization that equips young leaders across the Global South with the knowledge, tools, and opportunities to drive equitable climate action.

With professional experience spanning partnerships with the National Geographic Society, The Nature Conservancy, the UN Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC), and the Global Landscape Forum, Abdelslam has led and managed initiatives addressing freshwater sustainability, climate adaptation, and digital education for youth. His leadership style combines strategic program design, evidence-based advocacy, and grassroots engagement, focusing on creating accessible pathways for young people to contribute to climate solutions within their communities.

A medical graduate from Zagazig University (Egypt), Abdelslam integrates his scientific background with a policy-oriented approach to climate and public health resilience. He has completed over 130 professional courses and leadership programs, including the Google Project Management Professional Certificate and the Aspire Leaders Program.

Abdelslam’s portfolio includes directing the Freshwater Awareness and Conservation (FWAC) program—an initiative that fostered sustainable water management among Sudanese students—and leading Youth Talks on AI, a multi-day workshop exploring how artificial intelligence can support sustainability and education. His projects emphasize intersectional thinking, bridging technology, health, and environmental justice.

Recognized for his leadership and commitment, Abdelslam is a National Geographic Society Seed Grant recipient (2023) and an Aspire Leaders Program graduate (2024). Fluent in Arabic and English, he continues to advocate for Global South representation in international climate discourse.
