About Isha
A budding environmental journalist, I am passionate about research, writing and reporting. I am motivated to explore, travel and learn. The intersectionality between social justice, livelihoods and environmental conservation draws me to rural landscapes and to learn and unlearn through experience. The writer in me is interested in storytelling and asks critical questions with the aim to expose systemic failures and injustices. I have worked on story writing, documentation, content creation and reporting that have helped me skill up my writing abilities over the years.
Currently, I work as a Storytelling Fellowship Coordinator with Himal Prakriti—a trust for Nature—and Voices of Rural India. I also work as an Environmental Fellow for Territories of Life—a project supported by Kalpvriksha. Over the course of a year, I have overseen the publication of 30+ stories written by Indian rural storytellers on the Voices of Rural India website and the publication of a book titled 'Baarish ki Pehli Boonde—Stories from Uttarakhand.' I have worked with MappitGIS to document water sources and conduct a detailed water survey in the Munsiari region of Uttarakhand and been involved in the documentation of biodiversity in the Sarmoli Jainti Van Panchayat.
I am Co-founder and Director of the Climate Education Office at YouthClimate Connect (YCC). Together with the CEO and 8 other Co-founders, we established YCC two years ago, to involve youth globally for climate education and action.
An alumnus of Ashoka University, who pursued a major in Psychology, a minor in International Relations, Environmental Science and Media Studies, I am a curious learner. The fact that there is so much out there in the world to explore excites me and keeps me motivated. All my courses at Ashoka have helped me challenge dominant narratives, think critically and engage with ideas holistically.
I also demonstrate skill in Social Media, Training, Teaching, Research, News Writing, Event Management and Project Planning. I am an avid reader and I dabble in both the fiction and non-fiction categories, as both bring me closer to lived experiences. I have also engaged in website design, storytelling, research and fieldwork.
